The Syndicate and Company for the Sheltering of Crime figures and members in Latin America and Europe or just The Syndicate is an organized crime organization in the Cold War II series.
The Syndicate is also the only organization in the Cold War II series whose symbol also appears in animal stories because its cross symbol appears as the symbol of the National Protection Process. The organization is the main antagonist in the feature of the series The Second Cold War: Agents of Tomorrow.
Based largely in Mexico, Colombia, Germany and England, the Syndicate as it is largely called is a vast organized crime organization that is the result of merges of crime organizations within Latin America and Germany and Europe.
Like the National Protection Process of the Anthro world, its symbol is the Arrow Cross which Helga considers a strange symbol given that Germany has strived to forget its Nazi past since the end of World War II and many of its members are indeed Germans.
Unlike other hostile organizations to the E.I.N, the Syndicate works for itself and is also allies with other organized crime groups. However, its lone wolf operation is justifiable because the Syndicate are also responsible for the kidnapping of Helga's youngest daughter Christa which is what causes many organizations to turn away from it in spite of Christa being the only child that the Syndicate kidnap.
History and origins
Many organizations that are hostile to the European Intelligence Network grew out of crime organizations or from revolutions and also started fairly early, but the Syndicate grew slowly and much in the same way as The Company:
In the beginning were several organized crime organizations based largely in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Germany and England that were at war with each other until 2101 when they merged into one organization. However, naturally the Syndicate is very secretive of its origins so little is known of other associates in South America.
Despite being apolitical, the Syndicate eventually comes to decide to increase political influence and become a major threat to the E.I.N until the re-emergence of the Scandinavian Alliance at which point it became dormant and became active again in 2139 when they were fought by the daughters of E.I.N agent Helga Blankenburg.
