The Lionesses of Turkey also known as the Turkish Lionesses or just the Lionesses is the name given to a criminal organization that features in the series Defenders of Earth as an ally of PHANTOM and the secondary enemy of the Bulgarian Vixens.
They are the secondary rivals of the Vixen's Bulgarian branch known as the Bulgarian Vixens and because of this, their leader Ajla Bayat is also a rival to the leader of the Bulgarian Vixens, Stanislava Blagoeva alongside Bulgarian PHANTOM member Krasimira Varbanova.
Recognition and uniform
Much like the Bosnian Vixens and the Eastern Vixens in general, the Lionesses are recognized in the same way that other organizations composed of women, largely criminals, are recognized: By leathers and in the case of the Lionesses and the Vixens, both wear the same uniforms as they are typically recognized by leather bodysuits.
The main difference however between the Eastern Vixens and the Lionesses is that the latter cover their suits with Islamic attire such as abayas and headscarves. In place of boots, some of the Lionesses often wear sandals. This is also how some of the Bosnian Vixens are recognized, however only the leaders of the Bosnian Vixens do not wear bodysuits and instead wear Islamic attire ad nothing underneath.
Enemies and competitors
The main enemy of the Lionesses is predominantly the Eastern Vixens, in particular its Bulgarian branch which is first shown towards the end of King of the East when a group of Lionesses arrive at Burgas Airport with the intentions of taking all of the Vixens who remained in Bulgaria prisoner which ultimately never comes to pass because they only take Boyana Strashilova prisoner.
It is also this animosity that is shown in Stranger of the Past with a portrait of a Lioness attacking a Vixen signifying the feud between the Vixens and the Lionesses as well as a Lioness collaborating with a Jellyfish which signifies the alliance between PHANTOM and the Lionesses.
