A large number of dinosaurs that these ones were based off. Apart from the Stegosaurus, the dinosaurs shown towards the front are more commonly used for those depicted in Defenders of Earth.

The Dinosaurs depicted in the series Defenders of Earth are prehistoric reptiles that are enemies of the dragon Firroth.

They are among his many reptilian foes alongside other dragons such as Inhusrelun, the Hydras and the Mutant reptiles and are the second dinosaur on this wiki alongside those depicted in Invasion of the Reptiles.

Alongside the Dragons, the Hydras and the Mutant reptiles, the dinosaurs are trans wiki articles as they also appear on the original untermation wiki.

In real life

In evolutionary terms, dinosaurs were the land-dwelling descendants of the archosaurs, egg-laying reptiles that survived the Permian/Triassic Extinction Event 250 million years ago. Technically, dinosaurs can be distinguished from the other creatures descended from archosaurs (pterosaurs and crocodiles) by a handful of anatomical quirks.

Chief among these was posture: dinosaurs had either an upright, bipedal gait (like that of modern birds), or, if they were quadrupeds, a stiff, straight-legged style of walking (unlike modern lizards, turtles, and crocodiles, whose limbs splay beneath them when they walk).

Defenders of Earth

The Dinosaurs depicted in Defenders of Earth are prehistoric reptiles that are enemies of both the dragon Firroth and many of his allies; apart from their appearances, there are a number of differences between these dinosaurs and those depicted in Invasion of the Reptiles:

For one, the dinosaurs depicted in Defenders of Earth have far more original names such as the Torvoplosaura and are almost always land based with some mutations. These dinosaurs also appear to be far more uniform in the sense that they are also always antagonistic and carnivorous while the dinosaurs from Invasion of the Reptiles are both carnivorous (only in Invasion of the Reptiles) and herbivorous (only in the World War X series while the carnivores still exist).

These types of dinosaurs also don't appear to have much powers like the other reptiles in the series, except massive intelligence which is possessed by various other animals in literature be they dragons or genetically mutated animals like the other antagonists featured in Defenders of Earth as well as the foxes depicted in Bounder and the Time Lord and Battle of the Foxes, the last two stories of the Surgeon stories; at least, the final two stories in the first revived series.

The Dinosaurs

Name Meaning Description First appearance Last appearance
Torvoplosaura Savage Armored Lizard A close ally of the Kentrodonsaurus, the Torvoplosaura has a much more resemblance to an Ankylosaurus than its ally.

The only difference is that the Torvoplosaura is much more armoured on areas that are typically unscaled on a normal Ankylosaurus.

The Ultimate Battle
Kentrodonsaurus Spiky Tooth Lizard A strange case of a hostile dinosaur being based on a herbivorous dinosaur.

It has the body of a Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus merged together as it features armour plating mixed in with the spikes and fan plating of a Stegosaurus.

The Ultimate Battle
Dryptovenator Tearing Hunter The Ultimate Battle
Hadromoloch Big Demon Many psychic Vixens such as Alexandra Zhivkova describes it as "not being named a demon for nothing".

The Hadromoloch resembles a cross between a Gigantosaurus and a Megalosaurus but far more demonic looking, on the same scale as some of Firroth's opponents like Belluftkin.

The Ultimate Battle
Deinoplodraco Terrible Armored Dragon A rare case of a dinosaur being able to fly and is described by many psychic Vixens as being a sight of things to come; it resembles a a Gigantosaurus with arms as long as its leg, the wings of a Pteranadon and an Ornithocheirus mixed together and a whip like tail which resembles that of a Stegosaurus. The Ultimate Battle
Gorgodontotyrannus Fierce Teeth Tyrant One of the very first dinosaurs encountered by Firroth. It is also one of five enemy commanders in The Ultimate Battle.

It resembles a Gorgosaurus with the arms of a Spinosaurus

Dawn of the Tyrants The Ultimate Battle
Kentrodraco Spiky Dragon The Ultimate Battle
Dracocantotyrannus Dragon Spined Tyrant One of the very first dinosaurs encountered by Firroth. It is also one of five enemy commanders in The Ultimate Battle.

Resembles a mix between a Tarbosaurus and a Gigantosaurus

Dawn of the Tyrants The Ultimate Battle
Colossodraco Giant Dragon One of the many "dragon dinosaurs" within the Dinosaurs, it stands out as one of the few dinosaurs to develop a dragon alliance in the final Reptile Wars as it does so with Quenth, Destroyer of Men.

The fact it resembles a Bistahieversor with the wings of a Pterodactyl mixed with a Pteranadon, Quetzalcoatlus and Rhamphorynchus certainly helps.

The Ultimate Battle
Deinocantotyrannus Terrible Spined Tyrant One of the very first dinosaurs encountered by Firroth. It is also one of five enemy commanders in The Ultimate Battle.

It is also one of the smaller titular Tyrants in its first appearance as it resembles more of a Spinosaurus without the sail.

Dawn of the Tyrants The Ultimate Battle
Massoplocedraco (Massive Armored Dragon The Ultimate Battle
Eudontodraco Well Teeth Dragon The Ultimate Battle
Spinotyrannus Thorn Tyrant One of the very first dinosaurs encountered by Firroth. It is also one of five enemy commanders in The Ultimate Battle.

Resembles a cross between ancient and modern as it resembles a Tyrannosaurus with the thorns of a thorny devil, except the thorns are less prominent in Spinotyrannus

Dawn of the Tyrants The Ultimate Battle
Neodontyrannus New Tooth Tyrant One of the very first dinosaurs encountered by Firroth. It is also one of five enemy commanders in The Ultimate Battle.

As its name suggests, it has the ability to regenerate teeth lost in battle like a Great White Shark. It even resembles Carcharodontosaurus which means "Shark toothed lizard"

Dawn of the Tyrants The Ultimate Battle
Dryptotitan Tearing Giant The Ultimate Battle
Sarcolestes Flesh Stealer The Ultimate Battle
Styracocercotitan Spiked Tail Giant The Ultimate Battle
